there is literally no chance they did not get up to stupid shit. particularly since kamina and simon would have been drift compatible immediately so then it was just... simon trying to keep kamina from getting them kicked out of the academy via being dumb. So obviously that means there was lots of opportunities for Simon to cover for dumb antics.
